FINA Diving Grand Prix 2015 –Gatineau

The FINA Diving Grand Prix (Gatineau) 2015 took place at Gautineau Sports Complex on the 9th to 12th April 2015. A total of 122 divers from 19 countries took part in this competition. Singapore sent a team of 7 divers to compete against divers coming from Australia, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, Peru, Poland and Sweden.

The competition started off with the Women’s Open 3M Springboard Preliminary round in which Singapore divers, Fong Kay Yian & Myra Lee competed against 25 other divers. Kay Yian came in 22nd with a score of 219.90 and Myra finished 27th with a score of 204.55.

Day 2 of the competition started off with the Men’s Open 3M Springboard Preliminary round. Timothy Lee and Mark Lee from Singapore came in 23rd and 26th position among 31 divers with a score of 316.70 & 311.90 respectively. Our girls, Freida Lim and Kimberly Chan took part in the 2nd event of the day, Women’s Open Platform Preliminary round. Freida came in 19th with a score of 214.80 whereas Kimberly finished 22nd with a score of 154.45 among 22 competitors.

On the 3rd day of competition, our Synchronized twins, Mark and Timothy Lee participated in the Men’s Open 3M Synchro Finals. They emerged 9th out of the 12 pairs of competitors with a score of 340.80. In the 3rd event of the day, Women’s Open Platform Synchro, Singapore sent out a new pairing of Platform Synchro girls, Myra Lee and Freida Lim. They finished with a 6th placing scoring 242.61.

On the last day of competition, our 3M Synchro pair, Fong Kay YIan and Ashlee Tan, took part in the Women’s Open 3M Synchro Finals and finished in the 8th position with a score of 238.95, competing against 7 other pairs.
