1st Southeast Asian Swimming Championships 2012 – Diving Report

The 1st Southeast Asian Swimming Championships 2012 – Diving events was held in Singapore from 9 – 11 June, at Toa Payoh Swimming Complex. 5 of our national divers competed against 15 divers from Malaysia and Indonesia in a total of 8 events. Team Singapore took away 3 silver and 3 bronze medals from this competition.

Day 1 of the competition saw Timothy Lee and Mark Lee participating in the Men 3m Springboard event. Timothy Lee came in 5th with 271.30 points while Mark Lee came in 6th with 226.80 points.

On Day 2, in the Men Synchronised 3m Springboard event, Timothy Lee and Mark Lee clinched the Bronze medals with a score of 291.18, behind Andriyan and Akhmad Sukran Jamjami (Indonesia, 309.66 points) and Muhammad Danial and Muhammad Nazreen (Malaysia, 304.05 points).

In the Women Synchronised 3m Springboard event, Myra Lee and Fong Kay Yian competed against 2 other teams to clinch the Silver medals, ahead of SEA Games 2011 Silver medalists Indonesia. The Malaysia pair, Jasmine Lai Pui Yee and Kam Ling Kar won the event with 245.43 points.

The second session of Day 2’s competition saw Myra Lee and Fong Kay Yian competing against 4 other divers in the Women 3m Springboard event. Fong Kay Yian came in 4th place with a score of 221.65 while Myra Lee came in 5th with a score of 199.25.

In the Men Platform event, Jonathan Chan clinched the Silver, behind Muhammad Nazreen (Malaysia, 295.35 points).

Day 3 saw Timothy Lee and Mark Lee competing in the Men 1m Springboard event. Timothy Lee came in 2nd out of 6 divers, clinching the Silver with a total of 281.20 points, while Mark Lee won the Bronze, with a score of 268.65.

In the Women 1m Springboard event, Fong Kay Yian and Myra Lee competed against 3 other Malaysian and Indonesian divers. Kay Yian clinched the Bronze medal with a score of 188.65 behind Nur Dhabitah (Malaysia, 220.20 points) and Adeline Chin Wei Ling (Malaysia, 206.65 points). Myra Lee came in 4th with a total score of 187.7o.
